For AEDBF Romania, internationalization does not only mean connecting professionals, educators, and students with partners abroad, but also developing joint teaching and research projects. We believe that the experience and expertise of colleagues from other countries can create unique opportunities, and recent examples confirm this.
The days dedicated to Banking Law have demonstrated the real potential of international collaboration: disciplines included in curricula, long-standing conferences, internationally indexed journals, and academic mobility – all representing models to follow.
In this context, AEDBF Romania participated in the AEDBF Europe 2024 Annual Conference in Milan, hosted by the Catholic University Sacre Coeur, on the theme “The Banking and Financial System Facing Extreme Risks: Ten Years Since the Implementation of the Single Supervisory Mechanism.” The event brought together distinguished lecturers and practitioners, and Romania was represented through two scientific contributions presented by renowned banking law specialists and associate faculty members, under the coordination of the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
Based on the recent Letta and Draghi reports, which highlight the need for urgent reform, the conference analyzed the complexity of the multilevel legislative process, discussed the transformative roles of European institutions and agencies, and debated possible solutions for simplifying financial regulations without imposing additional burdens on market participants.
The agenda also included sessions dedicated to oversight architecture, “soft law” accountability, judicial review, and stakeholder engagement. The program was complemented by a guided cultural visit and a gala dinner, designed to facilitate reconnection among professionals from across Europe.
We extend special thanks to the President of AEDBF, a friend and supporter of Banking Law programs, who is also a visiting professor at the Faculty of Finance, Banks and Stock Exchanges, ASE, as well as within the Master's program "European Business Law" at the Faculty of Law, ASE.
